New Rules for General (Unreserved) Train Tickets (Indian Railways)
1. Valid ID Required
All passengers must carry a valid government-issued photo ID during the journey.
2. Non-Transferable
General tickets are non-transferable. Only the person whose name is on the ticket may travel.
3. Limited Validity
General tickets are valid only for the date of issue and for the journey starting within 3 hours of purchase
4. No Reservation Allowed
These tickets are not valid for reserved coaches. Traveling in sleeper or AC class with a general ticket is strictly prohibited.
6. Refund Policy Updated
Refunds will not be issued after the departure of the train or if the ticket is torn/damaged.
7. Children’s Fare
Children above 5 years must have a half or full ticket depending on age and rail authority rules.
8. Ticket Checking & Fines
Traveling without a valid general ticket will attract a minimum fine and/or prosecution.
